Fort Bend Attractions

George Ranch With FenceIn Fort Bend County, we know a thing or two about entertainment. So, besides shopping, what exactly can you do in a day here? Well, for starters try exploring all 23,000 acres at the George Ranch. If that’s not enough, start counting the number of stars in the sky at the George Observatory. Or, if seeing stars indoors is more your style, test out all 1,100 seats at the Stafford Centre while taking in some great performances.

Stafford Centre

Just 15 miles from downtown Houston, the Stafford Centre is the preferred place to take in a night with the stars in our 1,100-seat performing arts theater. Although, some prefer to become the star of the conference in our 25,000 square feet of meeting, banquet and exposition space, including our 20,000 square foot ballroom. Still, counting stars may be more your style. If so, there’s over 28 acres of outdoor festival space.

George Observatory

There’s nothing that can spark your imagination quite like space exploration. Within the 4,897 acres of the Brazos Bend State Park is the George Observatory. Here, one of the nation’s largest open-to-the-public telescopes awaits you. What’s more, the Challenger Learning Center, a memorial to the Challenger space shuttle astronauts, offers an exciting, space flight simulation experience for children.

George Ranch

Although the original George Ranch house was built in 1899 by Mamie and Albert P. George, family lines of the historic ranch date back to 1824 when Texas was still part of Mexico. During his time, A.P. raised many prize bulls through successful ranching operations on the 23,000-acre spread. Still a working ranch today, it’s one of only a handful of such sites left in America.
